Baghdad on the Bayou
The Boonieyonder
The Boonieyonder is a strange, eerie, dimly-lit, swampy place, that overlaps the most remote, backwoods reaches of the Louisiana bayou and the Nevernever. Directions and distance in the Boonieyonder are cattywampus—well beyond the capacity for most mortals to grasp. Additionally, as the shorelines of the bayou are constantly in flux—the access points to the Boonieyonder drift, ebb, and flow with the currents and tides. This makes reliable travel between worlds impossible. But for the Fae Folk that make this place their home; they enjoy easy access to both the worlds (and perhaps a few more) from their backyard.
This land holds no threats to its native population—but for outsiders, leeches, alligators, snakes, and sucking-muck-holes are around every corner. The closer you get to the Boonieyonder, the stranger the threats become—-flesh-eating plants, giant spiders, and poisonous, exploding mushrooms. Another dangerous sight signalling that one has wandered too close to the Boonieyonder are Feu Follet.
